EDUCATION
Tufts University (B.S.E.E.); Boston College Law School (J.D.).
My interest in electrical things has its roots in an unlikely place, a small dairy farm in Northern Vermont. From age 6 my parents had noticed my propensity towards all things electric so they assigned me to Christmas light duty to keep all the lights working throughout the season. From then on, I could be found repairing and rewiring any and all electric gadgets I could get my hands on. This early inspiration led me to the Boston area where I earned my degree in Electronic Engineering at Tufts University. Between Tufts and Boston College Law School, I served in the United States Navy, according to my obligation after the Navy made it possible for me to attend college. The concept of becoming a patent attorney came to me before graduating from Tufts and I was mulling over the decision to attend law school during my time on the ship out of San Diego. As many veterans before me, I, too, fell in love with San Diego.
On a more personal note, I fell in love with baseball at age 10 when I attended a Red Sox game in Fenway Park. Our seats were in the left field stands just above Ted Williams. From there I learned the game and played in high school. At age 16 golf found me and never let go. My game is sadly lacking but it involves a lot of fresh air and a lot of very nice people.
After 18 years of law school and law practice in Boston, I made the break and relocated to San Diego. I consider myself fortunate to live in San Diego for the past 40+ years where I can play golf, attend symphonies and top level theater, and professional baseball games, as time away from the practice of law permits.
My career in Intellectual Property (IP) has provided me the great joy of working with and representing people in their creative modes in my local, national, and international practice. Multiple legal and technical challenges arise daily that keep me excited about my practice and keep my mind sharp.
My goal is to provide high quality representation to people who create IP because, not only do I love what I do, I have many decades of experience and I am always learning. I look forward to continuing to represent creative people and companies as they contribute to the backbone of American innovation.
